No, some artist love to teach classes and some do not.

We do not have any employees at our store, so we don’t hire employees.  Everyone that volunteers to run the store has their own business that they create their art in and then they use the platform of the store to help their art business to be successful. All the member artists help run the register/store and all the artists have the opportunity to host events and or classes. Consignors are encouraged to be highly involved within the store as well.

We have found that the more involved the artists are in the store the we can help each other be more successful and reach our goals.

The owners and all the artists communicate in a private Facebook group and Facebook messenger. You will need to be active on these to be part of the Collective.

You can find our store on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, and TikTok. We encourage all our artists to interact and promote the store and their businesses on social media. We give all our member artists access to both our Social Media accounts to maximize our collective platform and audiences.

Once you have made your choice about applying to be a member or a consignor, an Artist Application will need to be filled out, completed and submitted. Applications are due by the 15th of each month. Reviews of applications are usually on the 4th Wednesday of each month. (We will do electronic reviews of applications in July and December.) Our members (jury) assess all artists’ work proposed to be sold in our collective. Members will evaluate your work at our monthly meeting. Right now, the following are given preference: members, potters, polymer clay, stain glass and food items. Once a decision has been made, the artist will be notified within one week. Once you have been accepted, you can bring your work down to be displayed. If selected as a member, before you can bring your work down to be displayed and sold, you will need to give the store a copy of your background check before items can be placed on the floor and training begins. Simple background checks (called Right of Access) are also required if you plan to teach classes at the store. All artists need to give an electronic version of their artist bio and picture so it can be added our website. If selected as a consignor, you can then bring your work down to be displayed and sold. Additional background checks are also required if you plan to teach classes at the store. If you have not been accepted, feedback is given and you are welcome to apply again in six (6) months. Successful artists at The Local Artisan Collective, llc, use the store as a platform to sell their creations, like a website or Etsy shoppe. Those artists that just drop off their pieces, don’t promote their work and/or the store, and those that say they want “to try it out to see if it works” generally are not successful.
